Spring Fiber Sale was lively!

The March 16th Spring Fiber Sale was even better our 2nd time around.  Our terrific show organizer, Pat Wendt, had a creative solution to the dilemma of narrow booths.  Two booths combined – minus dividing wall between- worked splendidly well.  Friend & fellow vendor, Chris of Aurora Colony Fiber Arts, joined booths with us, and our “C” configuration (if C’s were rectangular) gave customers much more floor space to maneuver.  Happy customers tarry longer to enjoy shopping.

More walking space = happy customers, and we sure were kept busy!

Once again I scarcely made it out of booth to wander for photos.

Friends Naomi & Deidra in booth across from us:  both are Angora rabbit breeders & spinners of wonderful, gloriously soft fiber.

Naomi (center) & Deidra (right) in their Angora bunny fur booth.  Both ladies raise rabbits and spin lovely yarn.  Deidra tries the softness-on-neck test.  Angora passes with much “ooh” & “ahh-ing.”

Apparently spinning Angora rabbit fur is exactly this easy! Smart Deidra to have her wheel present for demonstration.

Canine conversation to have with precious pooch: "No, this is not a toy for you. Please refer to rawhide bone, because this here sheep bag is a toy for your human. Please do not chew!" Good luck with that.

Rescue mission: Deja vu!  Hasn’t this happened before?  Why yes, it IS another plaintive customer with her dog-chewed Wooly Sheep Bag, in need of repair!  Yes, we can fix that….  No,  ha ha, I’m not really in the dog toy business.  At least I didn’t think I was…..

  1. Hi Dana, I like your reconfiguration of the booth into a C, we have the same issue with our Fiber Spa Spin Knit here in Freeport Maine with the booths side by side, and were able to reconfigure booth space which provided better browsing for our attendees too, makes a nice difference for all. As usual, am really enjoy my Pinkie Sheep spinning bag, she hangs on my new Rose wheel so proud and cute!, Looks like you have been enjoying yourself spinning too, good for you!, Susan in Maine

    • Hi Susan, nice hearing from you. I’m so pleased to imagine the pink wooly sheep bag happily dangling from your Rose wheel. What a pretty combination it must be. As for booth spaces, I hadn’t seen it done before, though I am now a fan of this double-combo. It helps to know the vendor you’ll share with, know & like their products too (my friend had asked to be alongside us). Spring Fiber Sale has booths around perimeter of room, then a few more in center of the donut. Those are the narrower booths which benefit from doubling. We considered a center display table, but left open space instead. Our booths were 8′ wide, 10′ deep. If we’d had 10×10, I’d have liked the 3-tiered center display table. Anyhow, I shared the photos in hopes other vendors could use the idea; vendors are great about helping each other!
